We are celebrating 12 new adoptions in October and 23 dogs welcomed to the rescue.
October was one of our biggest months yet. Twenty-three dogs got a second chance: 14 came to us as shelter transfers, 5 were owner surrenders, 3 were strays, and 1 was an adoption return we welcomed back with open arms. Behind every one of those numbers is a village: 54 adoption applications and 30 foster applications came in from people ready to open their homes and hearts.
The Bark Rangers Are Ready!
Last month we introduced you to Mama Sierra and her five puppies, the Bark Rangers, born just a day after Sierra arrived at the shelter. We promised they would be available for adoption in November, and that day is here. Sequoia, Zion, and Denali are ready to meet their forever families, and Acadia and Cascade have already been adopted.
Mama Sierra gave us all a scare in mid-October with an emergency trip to the vet. Thanks to this community, her $937.15 vet bill was covered in full, every test came back clear, and two days later she passed the culprit: a huge chunk of fabric she had swallowed. She is feeling much better, and now this incredible mama is waiting for a forever home of her very own.
Forever in Our Hearts: Cotton
In late October, we fought hard for Cotton, a six-month-old puppy who had already survived more than any dog should have to. Despite round-the-clock care and an outpouring of love and support from this community, Cotton passed away on October 30. He left this world knowing he was loved, and that is because of you. We will never forget him.
Join Us in November
November is birthday month for two of our teammates, Kim and Lara, and we are celebrating with a whole week of ways to support the dogs:
November 5–8: Shop for a cause at Main St Mercantile in Tiburon. Mention Love's Legacy when you shop and 15% of your purchase goes to the rescue.
Friday, November 6, 5–9 PM: AP Luxe's Luxe & Lights holiday party and silent auction in Mill Valley, benefiting Love's Legacy.
Saturday, November 7, 10 AM–3 PM: Shop Camino's one-year anniversary and adoption event in Mill Valley. Come meet some of our adoptable dogs.
